Welcome to the
Educational
Outreach Program
Thanks for visiting the DPS Homeless Services Program Website
Our mission for the Educational Outreach Program is to help homeless children use education to break the cycle of poverty by providing essential educational supports. Our primary objective is to remove educational barriers that prevent homeless children from having a successful school experience.
EOP identified and assisted 2,136 students during 2011-2012 school year. This is the highest number ever recorded for DPS and 18% more students identified than last school year. Over 500 students were unaccompanied youth and not with their parent or guardian.
We focus on two main areas: School Readiness and Student Success
-
school enrollment and advocacy
-
backpack/school supplies
-
free breakfast and lunch assistance
-
clothing and uniform assistance
-
basic need supplies
-
community resources for emergency housing situations
-
school transportation help

We have a new homeless liaison school assignment list for 2012.2013. We aim to be more streamline with other DPS departments so a regional list was created. Please view before sending your referral: Homeless Liaison Regional Assignment List 2012.2013

Help us launch our new Referral Form for 2012.2013! We have improved our referral process and updated our Residency Questionnaire. The form will reduce the amount of paperwork and steps we have to complete for DPS homeless identification. We hope this update provides services more readily to families as well! Here is what the **NEW** Form looks like. Please visit our Identify a Homeless Student Tab on the right for more information.
